Former HIV/AIDS ambassador threatens to kill herself and kids

Joyce Dzidzor Mensah, a former AIDS Ambassador has threatened to commit suicide along with her 3 charming kids on Saturday.

Joyce Mensah, who courted massive debate after denouncing her HIV status after 5 years of leading a campaign against HIV/AIDS, said she will go to her hometown where she plans to kill the kids and herself.

She is set to grant her last radio interview before going to her hometown in Peki Dzake which is located in the Volta region of Ghana.

 “These are my 3 children. Today is our last day on earth,” she confirmed in a post on Facebook with a family photograph of herself and the 3 children, threatening “Am going to kill them and kill myself”.

According to Joyce Mensah, the family has suffered a lot of humiliation and discrimination after she publicly came out to say she was living with HIV/AIDS.

She had no option than to denounce her HIV status, she said in a previous interview, to save her kids from the public stigmatization.

Dzidzor’s post on social media goes like: “These are my three kids. Today is our last day on this earth. I have my last interview at 3fm this afternoon. I will then proceed to the village where my children are.

“Am going to kill them and kill myself also. We are going to a place where there is no sorrow, a place where people will never call my children AIDS children, a place where I will not be judged wrongly, a place where there is no hunger.

“A place where my children will not be sacked for school fees, a place where we will not pay for accommodation. A place where no one will beat me for using their bathroom. May our souls rest in peace.”

When TV3 contacted her on phone, she sounded sad and was sobbing.

For now, the Media General group has informed the Ghana Police Service who are setting together every effort to talk her through the decision to commit suicide and give her the needed backing.
