We want NPP to stay in power for at least 6 decades – Freddie Blay

    Acting National Chairman, Freddie Blay

The Acting National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay has cautioned members of the governing NPP party against any oversight or
commission that would disrupt the NPP’s ambition of staying in power for at least 6 decades.

When addressing thousands of supporters and delegates of the NPP at the 26th annual delegates’ conference taking place in the Eastern regional capital Koforidua, He called on party functionaries to remain integrated and dedicated on that cause.
“The President, Nana Addo keeps on telling us that we want to stay in power, not for just 8 years, but for more than 60 years,” he reminded the assembly.

Mr. Freddie Blay stated that although the New Patriotic Party government is “on top of all the difficulties facing this country”, many need to be done.
“We have written a number of very remarkable successes, but we cannot boast that we are completely out of the woods, that is why we need to be united, we need to be stable, we need to work together our focus as a party behind Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government, so that he continues to deliver the promises based on our manifesto, as we told Ghanaians.”
Taking note of the instability the NPP went through to win power from the NDC in 2016 and the task ahead of them, the Acting National Chairman who is also contesting 2 others for the chairmanship position called the status quo an “exciting and challenging moment of the party”.
The 2018 Conference which is happening at the Koforidua Technical University is themed: ‘Building a Stronger Party, Delivering Prosperity to Ghanaians’.
Freddie Blay recognized that building a stronger party would involve a lot of work from all and sundry.
He also spoke on the fact that some of the party supporters at the grassroots are irritated.
Mr. Blay said after going rounds, he, together with other leaders of the NPP party, realized that there were “little grumblings, a few issues on the ground which constituted pain in the hearts of many of our members who have gathered here”.
