Nigerian billionaire, Aliko Dangote given the green light to mine coal in Tanzania
One of Africa's most rapidly expanding business conglomerates on the continent is the DANGOTE GROUP. With their hard-earned reputation for

the busy metropolis of Lagos but currently changing lives and transforming Tanzanian economy.
Tanzania’s
government had a deal with them last year for the supply of natural gas to Dangote Cement Company in the
south-eastern town of Mtwara, the state has offered vast land to the Nigerian businessman to mine coal for its operations.
Tanzania’s Ministry of Energy and Minerals on Saturday gave a 10-square-kilometre plot of land to the to Dangote for his $500 million cement factory set up in 2015 with an annual capacity of 3 million tonnes of production.
Source according to local media "The Citizen", shows that the move was sanctioned by Tanzanian President, John Magufuli to allow the company get a reliable supply of energy (coal) to fuel its activities in order to increase production.
President John Magufuli has now banned all imports of coal from South Africa and Tancoal, which is the only one coal producing company in the country, doesn't have the capacity to meet the entire market demand.
Dangote operates his business on an expensive diesel generators and requested Tanzanian government to assist him last year to supply natural gas at a reduced price.
President Magufuli later intervened after a meeting with this African billionaire and the company’s owner Aliko Dangote over stalled negotiations on prices.
He blamed middlemen for the delays in the supply plans said Dangote “we will now buy natural gas directly from the state-run Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation ”.
Africa’s biggest cement producer,Dangote, has plans to double Tanzania’s yearly output of cement to 6 million tonnes to boost their economy.
It also has plans to roll out plants across Africa but has already covered most countries including;
