Justin Gatlin beats Usain Bolt to win the 100m gold in London 2017 final

There was no fairytale ending for the 100m record holder Usain Bolt as he was defeated by Justin Gatlin in his last
100m World final on London.

Usain Bolt, the fastest man on the earth for so long finished 3rd in front of a sold out London Stadium in the 100m final today.

This wasn’t the kind of result the fans expected, and they hooted at Justin Gatlin, who has been banned twice for doping.

So Usain Bolt, the greatest sprinter in the history of athletics, has ended his championship career with just a bronze after his gold rush on the track.

“Usain Bolt has been a blessing to world athletics” former British star, Darren Campbell said this after Bolt came 3rd with a modest 9.95 seconds, behind Coleman’s 9.94 sec. and Justin Gatlin’s 9.92 sec.

'Bolt has saved the sport. Let us not lie about this fact, it is only because everybody goes, 'Usain Bolt is clean’ that it has been able to continue.”

Since becoming a star and figurehead as early as 21 years in 2008, Usain Bolt has carried track and field events on his broad shoulders.

Not quite single handedly, Jess Ennis Hill and Mo Farah, to name few, would definitely have something to say about that.

The Jamaican has been a blessing: an athlete as flamboyant off the track as he's devastating on it, who has delivered come rain or shine at any given time.

Usain has won 136 races out of 144 races since he started in 2008. What about His previous championship defeat?

 If you discount the world final competition in 2011 where he had a false start, his silver medal in the World 200m final in the year 2007.

Since that year, Bolt has gathered a dozen gold medals at the Worlds stage and also completed the triple-triple at the Olympic games, albeit Bolt lost one relay from 2008 after his teammate Nesta Carter was tested positive for doping.
