PHOTOS: Asante Kingdom mourns their longest-serving Queen mother
The Asante Kingdom led by Otumfuo Osei Tutu has began the 4-day mourning and funeral rites of its longest-serving Queen, Nana Afia Serwaa Kobi Ampem.
Sunday midnight sparked
the beginning of elaborate activities expected to end Thursday when the Queen's body will be laid in a grave at "Eban mu" (royal cemetery) at
Breman, a suburb in Kumasi.
Nana Afia Kobi died at the age of 111, the longest-serving Queen will be served one of the Kingdom's longest-running funerals for royals in the Kingdom. The first day of the 4-day funeral ceremony witnessed some high dignitaries not forgetting traditional leaders with their rich display of culture. see some of the pictures
