Charlotte Osei should be sacked and arrested now - Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong

The Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has demanded the immediate arrest of the Electoral Commissioner,
Madam Charlotte Osei, and her two deputy commissioners.

Kennedy Agyapong said this on Adom TV’s "Badwam" on Tuesday morning that the Electoral commissioners must be arrested as part of measures to cause further investigations into the alleged corrupt practices at the EC which the commissioners are leveling against one another.

He said, “the truth of the matter is that they should sack all the 3 and arrest them because the Electoral Commission herself is coming forth with documented reports of corruption cases at their own office, they should all be sacked and arrested for prosecution immediately for working to sabotage the country for all this while…,”

The EC Boss, Charlotte Osei, in a written  27-page response rubbished all the claims leveled against her which suggest she's been involved in misappropriation of funds and abuse of office.




A petition signed by the Counsel for the staff, Maxwell Opoku-Agyemang also cited among other things the violation of the established Procurement Law through which goods and services are procured for the Commission.

They also made a claim that the EC Boss unilaterally and without regard to the procurement law and procedures, engaged the services of lawyers to represent the Electoral commission in the pre-election legal case with aggrieved parties and the disqualified flag bearers.

Charlotte Osei was also alleged to have canceled an existing contract with an I.T Company called Super Tech Ltd (STL), and unilaterally renegotiated and re-awarded the contract at a new sum of $21,999,592 without serious regard to the tendering processes at the EC.


Hon. Kennedy Agyapong continued that "it is only God who has caused all of them to start fighting and revealing their hidden secrets".

“All the 3 commissioners at the EC should step aside for a fair investigations to proceed because of the current revelations from the EC Boss, Charlotte Osei is very serious… She is not clean, Amadu Sulley too is not clean and Georgina Opoku-Amankwah is deeply an NDC and not clean too…,” Kennedy said.

He went on to say that it would be prudent to sack and arrest the commissioners as Madam Lauretta Lamptey suffered a similar fate.
