PHOTOS: A look back at John Terry’s illustrious career at Chelsea.

Chelsea captain, John Terry announced on Monday that he will not be staying with Chelsea after the end of this league season and the 36-year old legend is
leaving the blues with an impressive record at Stamford Bridge.

It is unclear where his career will take him from here, but here’s a flashback at his amazing career at Stamford Bridge.

In October 1998: He made his Chelsea debut

Probably no one knew it was going be the beginning of a nearly 20-year stay at the bridge, but John Terry made his debut for Chelsea on Oct. 28, 1998, which was against Aston Villa in a League Cup. He would later be loaned to Nottingham Forest for some time, but his Chelsea career started at this point.

In February 2000: He scored his first goal

John Terry's first goal came some fifteen (15) months after his debut for Chelsea during an FA Cup match win over Gillingham. He ran out to the stands and celebrated with the supporters. Terry went on to score 65 more goals for Chelsea in all competitions.

In 2004: Terry was named Chelsea captain by Jose Mourinho

Terry started to break through for the blues and gradually became a regular starter for Chelsea by the year 2001-2002 season. But he became the captain of the Blues in 2004 with manager Jose Mourinho naming him skipper for the side at the start of the 2004-05 season. John Terry went ahead to captain Chelsea a total number of 578 times out of his 713 appearances for the team.

In March 2005: Terry scores a Champions League game-winner

This was one of the memorable goals that Terry has ever scored, he netted a game-winner vs. Fc Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League at Stamford Bridge on 8th March 2005.

In May 2005: He won his first big trophy as a captain

JT as popularly called went on to lift the Premier League trophy four times in his career with Chelsea Fc, but his first trophy in 2005 was perhaps the most special of all.

When JT assist to lead the Blues to their Premier League title in 2005, that was Chelsea's first top-flight title in 50 years, a huge milestone for the London giants.

In April 2006: wow he did it again

The following season, John Terry and Chelsea did it all over again and lifted yet another Premier League title with Jose Mourinho.

In May 2010: He won one more title with closed margin

With just one point separating Chelsea and the then reigning champions Manchester United, the London giants took back the title under John Terry's captaincy. Here, JT celebrates it with his family and friends.

In 2010: Double the hardware for Terry and Chelsea Fc

Chelsea completed the double in 2010, having won the English Premier League title and an FA Cup in one season. In this photo, John Terry celebrates in a special parade to mark the double trophies won.

In May 2012: A Champions League win and a costume change

This was one of the historic years in the history books of this great club. Chelsea pulled off an unlikely win to become the UEFA champion of after beating out Bayern Munich in the finals.

He did not get to play a part in the final because he was sent off in the semi-final against Barcelona, but after Chelsea prevailed on penalty kicks, he quickly changed into his kit so he could lift the trophy with his teammates which they eventually did in a grand style.

Though some mocked him for the costume change, the photos will last forever.

In May 2013: Europa League champions

For all the trophies John Terry won with Chelsea, one that remained was the Europa League trophy. They did it again in 2013 by beating Benefica at the Amsterdam Arena.

In May 2015: One more time, Terry is a Premier League champ

There is a chance that JT could still manage to win one more EPL title if the final few weeks of the season go smoothly for Chelsea.

But for now, his fourth and last Premier League trophy came in 2015 during Mourinho's second comeback in charge with the Chelsea team.
